  • Hooping!

Thursday I made my first hoop!  The materials were being offered in the Craft Shop here at school, and I just couldn't resist any longer!  I have been wanting to make a hoop down there all semester, but too bad my timing was so poor.  I have finals next week, and I need to get my butt studying.  Maybe hooping will give me a break to relax and have some fun this week.  On the bright side, I finished my chemistry paper today!

If you're interested in seeing my hoop (and my awful first two recorded practices), check out my YouTube channel for videos!

I've been practicing since then, and I've learned some new tricks already!

Well, it's back to studying for me!  With hopefully lots of hooping breaks and a Skype session with Alex in-between!

  • Finals + Winter Break

Next Monday is the start of my first week of college finals.  Boo!

I have BIOL 200A on Monday, MATH 108 and HIST 101A on Tuesday, and my CHEM 200 final exam is on Wednesday.  I still have yet to study for these exams plus write a research paper for CHEM 200 for honors credit.  I feel so ill prepared for all of this!

However, once I am done at 9:50 Wednesday morning, I am FREE to drive four and a half hours north to be back home.  Home, where my parents, best friend, and love of my life are.  The drive is worth it!

On another note, yesterday I gave blood, one of my favorite things to do!  I absolutely don't know why because I always have terrible experiences with feeling light-headed and dizzy.  This time was no different, though along with my usual symptoms, I now have a beautiful bruise on my elbow where blood has pooled underneath my skin!  Yippee!

My boyfriend's sister Abbey is making me a hula hoop for Christmas this year, and I cannot be more excited!  I've been wanting to start hooping for about three months now, and since I've been watching so many videos, I know already I'll be good.    So I'll be hooping all winter break (which is a whole month!)!  I don't know where I'll be hooping when I come back to school in January.  It's way too cold outside, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough room in my dorm.

Wish me good luck on my finals and my paper!  I'm sure I'll need it.

If I don't post again before then, merry Christmas and a happy new year to all of you!

  • This Is A Test

A test to see how long I will keep this up.  A test of self-discipline.  A test of how willing I am to put effort into something that probably will not affect my life in the next fifty years.

I guess I should start by introducing myself.

Hi, my name is Ryleigh.  I am a freshman at Southern Illinois University Carbondale studying pre-medicine with a biological sciences major (and maybe a psychology minor).  I want to be a neurologist when I "grow up."  I don't have many friends (especially where I'm living now), but the few I have are wonderful.  My boyfriend's name is Alex, and we've been together for thirteen months today.

I enjoy a lot of activities except when I don't.  I like reading a lot.  I like watching movies.  I like hooping.  I like both making and listening to music.  I like drawing, especially portraits.  I like doing homework.  I like doing laundry.  I like cleaning my room.  I like spending time with the people I love.  I like making lists.  I like solving Rubik's cubes.

I don't like writing papers.  I don't like procrastinating.  I don't like watching television (sometimes).

I promise I'll make my other posts more interesting.
